N.B This site is user friendly and is for all age groups. Almost everyone aims to drive a motor vehicle at some point throughout their lives. It also serves to also educate students to learn beforehand about road rules and safe motoring.
Driver education is the key to prevent and decrease motor vehicles crashes. Jamaica needs a medium which is readily available (that can be easily updated) to provide new and existing motorists with information that will promote the safe operation of motor vehicles.
The making of an official drivers guide

Everyone has a role to play in keeping our community safe. Some students are not driving yet but hope to be in the near future. They have easy access to technology and spend a lot of time online. The actions of students have a huge influence on making our roads and communities safer, so it is important to help them recognize the road responsibilities that they will encounter soon. Getting a drivers license in Jamaica is exciting for everyone To get a drivers license ,there are several steps you need to go through. You must first pass a Road Code Test to get a Provisional Drivers License (Learners License) before you can apply for the full driving license. Ques: What is The Road Code Test?
Ans:(a) a multiple choice test, comprising of 20 questions, designed to evaluate a person’s knowledge of the general rules of the road, including road signs, road markings and road safety knowledge. (b)a test that is required before you can get your Provisional Drivers License (Learners License)

Ans : Visit any Island Traffic Authority Examination Depot to submit the completed Application Form, along with (3) three identical certified photographs and take the Road Code Test.
The Application Form will be returned to the Applicant, in a sealed envelope for him /her to submit it to the Tax Office of his/her choice, for the Provisional License (Learners License) to be processed.
At the Tax Office, the Form will be vetted and validated using a database shared by the Island Traffic Authority and Tax Administration Jamaica. The applicant will be directed to a cashier to pay the required fee and issued the Provisional Drivers License (Learners License) with the payment receipt affixed.

Ans: (a) You must not drive if you have been drinking alcohol (b) You must not drive alone, an accompanying licensed driver must sit in the front passenger seat. (c) Whilst practicing you must be accompanied at all times by a full license holder who is over 21 years of age, qualified to drive the vehicle you’re driving and has held their licence for over three years. (d) Each person in the vehicle must wear a working seat-belt.

- Obtain the relevant application form from the Tax Office
- Complete the application form and have it certified by a Justice of the Peace.
- If you are applying for a General License, you should be examined by a Medical Doctor who will fill out and sign the applicable section of the form.
- Pay the required fee and collect a receipt.
- Submit the complete application form, the driver’s license receipt, three (3) certified passport size photographs and your valid Provisional Driver’s License (Learner’s License) to the Examination Depot.
- You will receive an appointment date for your written and driving tests.

- pay the required fee and obtain a receipt
- your photograph will then be taken
- the Tax Office (Collectorate) will notify you when your license will be ready
- Until your license is ready, when driving you must carry your receipt along with the previously expired license.

Ans : After passing the driving test, the Certifying Officer (Examiner) will prepare a Certificate of Competence for you. Your original application form along with a Certificate of Competence will be sent to the nearest Tax Office (Collectorate)
- You will be given a date to attend the Tax Office (Collectorate ) to process your License.
- At the Tax Office (Collectorate) you will be required to submit your (a) Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) and a valid identification, (b) complete an application form for Driver’s License, (c) pay the required fee and collect a receipt, and (d) have your photograph taken.
- Your driver’s license will then be processed. N.B. Licenses are issued for a period of five (5) years, renewable on your birthday.

- The Island Traffic Authority will investigate and prepare a statement to the Tax Office (Collectorate) indicating whether or not there is any Judicial Endorsement (official entry by court) on the lost license.
- Attend at the Tax Office (Collectorate) where the original license was issued and apply for a substitute.
